Lineage. Constituted as 944 Civil Engineering Flight on 13 Aug 1971. Activated in the Reserve on 1 Jan 1972. Inactivated on 1 Jan 1977. Redesignated as 944 Civil Engineering Squadron on 31 Oct 1983. Activated in the Reserve on 8 Nov 1983. Redesignated as 944 Civil Engineer Squadron on 1 Mar 1994.

Assignments. 944 Military Airlift Group, 1 Jan 1972; 445 Military Airlift Wing, 1 Jul 1973-1 Jan 1977. Tenth Air Force, 8 Nov 1983; 452 Air Refueling Wing, 1 Jan 1984 (attached to Tactical Fighter Group, Provisional 9150, 1 Mar 1986-1 Jul 1987); 944 Tactical Fighter (later, 944 Fighter) Group, 1 Jul 1987; 944 Support (later, 944 Mission Support) Group, 1 Aug 1992-.
