Lineage.  Constituted as 28 Motor Vehicle Squadron, Bombardment, Medium, on 28 May 1948.  Activated on 12 Jul 1948.  Redesignated as: 28 Motor Vehicle Squadron, Bombardment, Heavy, on 16 May 1949; 28 Motor Vehicle Squadron on 16 Mar 1950; 28 Transportation Squadron on 15 Oct 1956.  Discontinued, and inactivated, on 1 Jan 1962.  Activated on 1 Sep 1991.  Redesignated as 28 Logistics Readiness Squadron on 15 Jul 2002. 

Assignments.  28 Air Base Group, 12 Jul 1948; 28 Maintenance and Supply Group, 1 Feb 1949; 28 Air Base (later, 28 Combat Support) Group, 10 Feb 1951-1 Jan 1962.  28 Logistics Group, 1 Sep 1991; 28 Mission Support Group, 15 Jul 2002-.

Stations.  Rapid City (later, Ellsworth) AFB, SD, 12 Jul 1948-1 Jan 1962.  Ellsworth AFB, SD, 1 Sep 1991-.
