Lineage.  Constituted as 2 Communications Squadron, Air Support, on 8 Apr 1942.  Activated on 20 Apr 1942.  Redesignated as: 2 Air Support Communication Squadron on 11 Jan 1943; 2 Tactical Air Communications Squadron on 1 Apr 1944.  Inactivated on 7 Dec 1945.  Disbanded on 8 Oct 1948.  Reconstituted, and redesignated as 2 Air Support Operations Squadron, on 1 Sep 1996.  Activated on 30 Sep 1996.
