Lineage.   Constituted 727 Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron on 30 Aug 1950.  Activated on 2 Sep 1950.  Redesignated:  727 Tactical Control Squadron on 1 Jul 1964; 727 Tactical Control Squadron (Test) on 15 Sep 1979; 727 Air Control Squadron (Test) on 1 Nov 1991.  Inactivated on 1 Oct 1995.  Redesignated 727 Expeditionary Air Control Squadron, and converted to provisional status, on 3 Feb 2005.

Assignments.  507 Tactical Control (later, 507 Communications and Control; 507 Tactical Control) Group, 2 Sep 1950; 602 Tactical Control Group (later, 602 Tactical Air Control Group; 602 Tactical Air Control Wing), 1 Jul 1966; USAF Tactical Air Warfare Center, 1 Oct 1979; 4442 Tactical Control (later, 505 Air Control; 505 Command and Control Evaluation) Group, 1 Mar 1980-1 Oct 1995.   Air Combat Command to activate or inactivate at any time after 3 Feb 2005.

Stations.  Shaw AFB, SC, 2 Sep 1950; Myrtle Beach AFB, SC, 26 Sep 1954; Bergstrom AFB, TX, c. 15 Nov 1966; Eglin AF Aux Field #9 (Hurlburt Field), 1 Oct 1979-1 Oct 1995.
