Born in Columbus, KS. Air Service Tactical School, 1924. Served to grade of Sergeant First Class, Infantry and Aviation Section, Signal Corps, 1912-1917; commissioned First Lieutenant, Signal Corps, December 1917. Career assignments include: various duties as company and field grade officer, 1917-1945, with participation in 1921 bombing demonstration under Brigadier General Billy Mitchell; successively Chief of Staff and Commanding General, Eleventh Air Force, 1945. Retired October 1949. Died at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX.

Personal papers relating to Davies' military service. Includes personal correspondence (1913-1918) and copies of reports on cross-country flight made by Davies (1917-1918). Also includes some materials on service in Alaska (1944-1946) and the United States' occupation of the Ominata area of Japan (1945) as well as some photographs from Davies' early career (1915-1920) and service in Alaska (1945).
