Squadron Officer School, 1955; Industrial College of the Armed Forces, 1966. Served to the grade of Sergeant, Infantry, 1943-1945; entered USMA, 1945. Career assignments include: various duties as company and field grade officer, 1949-1968; Commander, 23rd Tactical Fighter Wing, 1968-1970; Deputy Chief of Staff, Plans, J-5, HQ NORAD, 1970-1973; Commandant, Air War College, 1973-1975; Commander, HQ Ninth Air Force, 1975-1978; Commander, Twelfth Air Force, 1978-1979, Commander-in-Chief, North American Aerospace Defense Command and Aerospace Defense Command, and Commander, Aerospace Defense Center, 1980-1984 (assumed command of USAF Space Command, 1982). Retired 30 July 1984. Died 9 October 2000.
