Served to grade of Staff Sergeant, National Guard (MA), 1928-1940; commissioned Second Lieutenant, Coast Artillery Corps, National Guard (MA), September 1940; called to active duty as Second Lieutenant, Air Corps, February 1942. Career assignments include: active duty in various staff positions, 57th Fighter Group, 1942-1943; staff duties, 62nd Fighter Wing, 1943-1945; relieved from active duty as Lieutenant Colonel, Air Corps, October 1945; various command and staff positions, National Guard (MA), 1946-1966. Retired February 1966. Died 11 January 1975.

Official papers relating to Lynch's years on active duty. Includes daily intelligence summaries of the Advanced Headquarters Western Desert, an intelligence journal of the US Desert Air Task Force, and an organizational history of the 8th Fighter Wing. Also includes a reference map of the Mareth area of Tunisia (1942-1943).
