Career assignments include: various duties as company and field grade officer, 1939-1959; successively Deputy Director and Director of Plans, HQ Strategic Air Command, 1959-1964; Commander, 821st Strategic Aerospace Division, 1964-1965; Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff, Plans and Operations for Joint Chiefs of Staff Matters, 1965-1966; Commander, US Forces-Japan and Fifth Air Force, 1968-1969; Commander-in-Chief, North American Air Defense Command, Continental Air Defense Command and Aerospace Defense Command, 1969-1973. Retired September 1973.
