Career assignments include: various duties as company and field grade officer, 1940-1959; Deputy Director for Logistics, J-4, Office of Joint Chiefs of Staff, 1959-1960; Director of Procurement and Production, HQ Air Force Logistics Command, 1960-1962; Commander, Aeronautical System Division, Air Force Systems Command, 1962-1964; successively Assistant Deputy Chief and Deputy Chief of Staff for Systems and Logistics, HQ USAF, 1964-1969; Commander-in-Chief, Alaskan Air Command, 1969-1972. Retired August 1972.

Includes Ruegg's flight records (1942-1972) and his awards and commendations (1942-1953). Also includes various materials on the Industrial College of Armed Forces (1963-1969), Military Logistics Council (1968) and Worldwide Airfield Climatic Data (Areas 8, 9, and 10). Includes some speeches while Commander-in-Chief, Alaskan Air Command (1970-1972). Also contains several articles concerning the Arctic (1958-1970) and copies of the newspaper column by General Ira C.
