(1968-1969) Oral history interview with Lt. General David Jones, Director of Operations, later Vice Commander, Seventh Air Force, Tan Son Nhut Air Base, Republic of Vietnam (RVN). Topics include preparation for Southeast Asia (SEA) tour, Seventh Air Force representation on Military Assistance Command, Vietnam (MACV), overall assessment of Commando Hunt, dependence of Task Force Alpha (TFA) on Igloo White and coordination with US Embassy in Vientiane a continuing problem. Discusses command and control activities of TFA an airborne battlefield command and control center, strike control lessons learned from forward air control, strike control and reconnaissance roles, OV-10 night capability nil and the validity of Army requests for close air support and airlift. Lastly discussed are the increase in Vietnam Air Force capabilities, SEA operational requirement program cut to quick return items, availability of munitions, extensive product testing in combat environment, evaluation of reconnaissance gunships and single management of air, effectiveness of airpower in SEA and documentation of the Vietnam war.
