Lineage. Established as Civil Air Patrol on 28 May 1943. Activated on 1 Jun 1943. Redesignated National Headquarters, Civil Air Patrol on 15 Sep 1944. Redesignated Civil Air Patrol, USAF on 28 Aug 1948.
