Lineage.  Designated as 1721 Combat Control Squadron, and activated, on 1 Jul 1984.  Redesignated as 624 Combat Control Squadron on 1 Jun 1992.  Inactivated on 1 Oct 1993.  Redesignated as 21 Special Tactics Squadron, and activated, on 1 May 1996.
