Lineage. Constituted as 61 Air Base Squadron (Special), and activated, on 1 Mar 1941. Redesignated as 61 Base Headquarters and Air Base Squadron on 13 Jun 1942. Disbanded on 30 Apr 1944. Reconstituted, and redesignated, as 61 Mission Support Squadron on 16 Sep 1994. Activated on 1 Oct 1994. Redesignated as 61 Force Support Squadron on 1 Jun 2009.
