Lineage.  Established as 5 Mobile Communications Group, and activated, on 20 May 1964.  Organized on 1 Jul 1964.  Redesignated as: 5 Combat Communications Group on 31 Mar 1976; 5 Combat Information Systems Group on 15 Aug 1984; 5 Combat Communications Group on 1 Oct 1986.
