Lineage. Constituted as 459 Base Headquarters and Air Base Squadron (Reduced) on 6 Oct 1942. Activated on 28 Oct 1942. Redesignated as 459 Base Headquarters and Air Base Squadron on 17 Mar 1943. Disbanded on 31 Mar 1944. Reconstituted, and redesignated as 459 Combat Support Squadron, on 18 Jun 1976. Activated in the Reserve on 1 Jul 1976. Redesignated as: 459 Air Base Squadron on 1 Jul 1986; 459 Combat Support Squadron on 1 Apr 1990; 459 Mission Support Squadron on 1 Feb 1992; 459 Mission Support Flight on 1 Sep 2003; 459 Force Support Squadron on 15 Oct 2010.

Assignments. 6 Ferrying Group, 28 Oct 1942-31 Mar 1944. 459 Tactical Airlift (later, 459 Military Airlift, 459 Airlift) Wing, 1 Jul 1976; 459 Support (later, 459 Mission Support) Group, 1 Aug 1992-.
