Lineage.  Established as 97 Bombardment Wing, Very Heavy, on 11 Sep 1947.  Organized on 1 Dec 1947.  Redesignated as: 97 Bombardment Wing, Medium, on 12 Jul 1948; 97 Bombardment Wing, Heavy, on 1 Oct 1959; 97 Wing on 1 Sep 1991.  Inactivated on 1 Apr 1992.  Redesignated as 97 Air Mobility Wing on 21 Aug 1992.  Activated on 1 Oct 1992.
