Lineage.  Constituted as Air Base Squadron, 10 Air Base Group (Special), on 22 Aug 1940.  Activated on 1 Sep 1940.  Redesignated as:  9 Air Base Squadron (Special) on 17 Jan 1941; 9 Base Headquarters and Air Base Squadron on 13 Jun 1942.  Disbanded on 30 Apr 1944.  Reconstituted, and redesignated as 9 Mission Support Squadron, on 7 Mar 1989.  Activated on 1 May 1989.  Inactivated on 1 Jan 1990.  Activated on 1 Sep 1991.  Inactivated on 20 May 2008. 

Assignments.   10 Air Base Group (Special), 1 Sep 1940; 2 District, AAF Technical Training Command (later, AAF Central Technical Training Command), 1 Dec 1942; AAF Eastern Technical Training Command, 1 Mar-30 Apr 1944.  9 Combat Support Group, 1 May 1989-1 Jan 1990.  9 Support (later, 9 Mission Support) Group, 1 Sep 1991-20 May 2008.
