Lineage.  Constituted as 3415 Signal Service Detachment (Equipment Installation) on 10 Oct 1944.  Activated on 2 Nov 1944.  Redesignated as: 3415 Signal Equipment Installation Detachment on 29 Mar 1945; 5 Signal Equipment Installation Unit on 1 Mar 1949.  Inactivated on 6 Jan 1950.  Redesignated as 355 Communications Squadron, and activated, on 1 May 1992.

Assignments.  Plant Engineering Agency, 2 Nov 1944; Army Air Forces, 1 July 1946; Air Transport Command, 26 Jul 1946; Air Communications Service, 1 Aug 1946; Air Materiel Command, 11 Feb 1947; Military Air Transport Service, 1 Mar 1949-6 Jan 1950.  355 Support (later, 355 Mission Support) Group, 1 May 1992-.
