Lineage.  Constituted as 388 Aviation Squadron (Separate) on 11 Mar 1943.  Activated on 25 Mar 1943.  Redesignated as 388 Aviation Squadron on 9 Apr 1943.  Inactivated on 10 Dec 1945.  Disbanded on 2 Feb 1950.  Reconstituted, and redesignated as 688 Operations Support Squadron, on 22 Jun 2018.  Activated on 29 Jun 2018.
