Operations. Served as the command and planning element for deploying tactical air forces and the operational headquarters for the composite strike force of units drawn from the Tactical Air Command between 1955 and 1973.  After its reactivation and assignment to the Air Education and Training Command in 1993, ensured the execution of Air Force initial qualification and follow-on combat crew flying programs whose graduates then reported to war-fighting commands.  Also conducted annual air crew standardization and evaluation visits to its units to assess the effectiveness of its training programs.  Inactive from 12 Jul 2012-1 Oct 2014, when it was activated again with the same mission it had previously performed.
