Lineage.  Constituted as 86 Airdrome Squadron on 16 Feb 1943.  Activated on 1 Mar 1943.   Inactivated on 26 Dec 1945.   Disbanded on 8 Oct 1948.  Reconstituted, redesignated as 86 Operations Support Squadron, and activated, on 1 May 1991.

Assignments.  Third Air Force, 1 Mar 1943; Tenth Air Force, c. 2 Mar 1944; XIV Air Force Service Command, 4 Jul-26 Dec 1945.  86 Operations Group, 1 May 1991-.
