Lineage. Constituted 916 Communications Squadron on 3 Jul 1951. Activated in the Reserve on 6 Aug 1951. Inactivated on 15 Jun 1952. Consolidated (12 Apr 2007) with 916 Communications Flight, which was constituted, and activated on 3 May 1966. Organized in the Reserve on 1 Jun 1966. Inactivated on 8 Jul 1972. Activated in the Reserve on 1 Oct 1994. Redesignated 916 Communications Squadron on 12 May 2007.

Assignments. 916 Air Base Group, 6 Aug 1951-15 Jun 1952. 916 Military Airlift Group, 1 Jun 1966-8 Jul 1972. 916 Support (later, 916 Mission Support) Group, 1 Oct 1994-.
