Lineage. Designated as 1721 Combat Control Squadron, and activated, on 1 Jul 1984. Redesignated as 624 Combat Control Squadron on 1 Jun 1992. Inactivated on 1 Oct 1993. Redesignated as 21 Special Tactics Squadron, and activated, on 1 May 1996.
 
Assignments. Twenty-First Air Force, 1 Jul 1984; 1725 Combat Control Group, 1 Mar 1991; 624 Airlift Support Group, 1 Jun 1992-1 Oct 1993. 720 Special Tactics Group, 1 May 1996-.
