Lineage. Constituted as 9 Photographic Laboratory Section on 25 Aug 1944. Activated on 5 Sep 1944. Redesignated as 9 Photographic Technical Unit on 13 Oct 1944. Inactivated on 4 Oct 1945. Consolidated (16 Oct 1984) with the 9 Reconnaissance Technical Squadron which was constituted as the 12 Photographic Technical Squadron on 29 Jun 1948. Activated on 19 Jul 1948. Redesignated 9 Reconnaissance Technical Squadron on 4 Mar 1949. Inactivated on 1 May 1950. Activated on 18 May 1966. Organized on 25 Jun 1966. Inactivated on 1 Sep 1991. Consolidated (21 Jul 2009) with 9 Intelligence Squadron which was constituted as 9 Intelligence Support Squadron on 29 Aug 1991. Activated on 1 Sep 1991. Redesignated 9 Intelligence Squadron on 9 Jan 2003.
