Lineage. Constituted as 23 Weather Squadron (Regional Control Hqs) on 28 Oct 1943. Activated on 1 Nov 1943. Disbanded on 7 Sep 1944. Reconstituted, and redesignated, as 23 Weather Squadron on 3 Jun 2009. Activated on 3 Jul 2009. Redesignated as 23 Special Operations Weather Squadron on 28 Mar 2013.
 
Assignments. AAF Weather Wing, 1 Nov 1943-7 Sep 1944. Twenty-Third Air Force (Air Forces Special Operations Forces), 3 Jul 2009 (attached to 1 Special Operations Group on 31 Jul 2012); 1 Special Operations Group, 28 Mar 2013-.
