Lineage. Constituted as 84 Tactical Control Flight on 24 Jun 1969. Activated on 25 Jun 1969. Inactivated on 1 Oct 1979. Activated on 1 Oct 1985. Inactivated on 15 Jun 1988. Redesignated as 84 Expeditionary Air Support Operations Squadron, and converted to provisional status, on 12 Feb 2009. 

Assignments. 4469 Tactical Control Squadron, 25 Jun 1969; 607 Tactical Control Squadron, 15 Oct 1969; 602 Tactical Air Control Wing, 1 Mar 1977-1 Oct 1979. 602 Tactical Air Control Wing, 1 Oct 1985-15 Jun 1988. Air Combat Command to activate or inactivate at any time on or after 12 Feb 2009.
