Lineage. Established as Air Force Service Information and News Center, and activated as a separate operating agency, on 1 Jun 1978. Redesignated Air Force News Center on 1 Apr 1990. Became a field operating agency on 5 Feb 1991. Redesignated: Air Force News Agency on 1 Aug 1991; Air Force Public Affairs Agency on 1 Oct 2008.
