5 Expeditionary Airborne Command and Control Squadron (PACAF)

Lineage. Constituted as 25 Antisubmarine Squadron, Heavy, on 20 Apr 1943.  Activated on 1 May 1943.  Disbanded on 28 Oct 1943.  Reconstituted, and consolidated (19 Sep 1985) with the unit constituted as 25 Special Operations Squadron on 24 Aug 1970; activated on 31 Aug 1970; redesignated as 25 Special Operations Squadron (Reconnaissance Support) on 1 Jun 1971; and inactivated on 30 Sep 1974.  Consolidated squadron was redesignated as 5 Airborne Command and Control Squadron on 19 Sep 1985.  Redesignated as 5 Expeditionary Airborne Command and Control Squadron, converted to provisional status, and assigned to Pacific Air Command for activation or inactivation at any time on or after 30 Jun 2015.

Operations. Conducted antisubmarine patrols and assisted the U.S.Navy in the protection of friendly shipping off the southeastern coast of the United States, May-Aug 1943.  In Oct 1943, moved to Clovis AAFld, NM, where the personnel and equipment of the squadron was assigned to other squadrons.  Between 31 Aug 1970 and 30 Sep 1974, provided photographic processing, interpretation, production, and distribution of derived reconnaissance information.
