Lineage. Constituted as 28 Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron on 5 Feb 1943. Redesignated as 28 Photographic Squadron (Light) on 6 Feb 1943. Activated on 1 May 1943. Redesignated as 28 Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron on 11 Aug 1943. Inactivated on 29 May 1946. Consolidated (19 Sep 1985) with the 928 Air Refueling Squadron, Heavy which was constituted on 5 Jan 1959. Activated on 1 Feb 1959. Discontinued on 1 Oct 1960. Redesignated as 928 Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron, and converted to provisional status, on 20 Mar 2003.
