Lineage.  Constituted as 78 Air Base Group (Special) on 21 Jul 1941.  Activated on 1 Aug 1941.  Redesignated as 78 Service Group on 13 Jun 1942. Disbanded on 25 Apr 1945.  Reconstituted, and redesignated as 78 Support Group, on 16 Sep 1994.  Activated on 1 Oct 1994.  Redesignated as 78 Mission Support Group on 1 Oct 2002.
